Haha, I'm not too big on dubs, either. I only watch them for laugh value. Some aren't too bad, though-- Golden Boy's dub is so funny that I actually like it more than the original. XD;

I think Naruto's casting (as I like Vash's English va...) is brilliant; I think he can sound very young and very silly... but then again, I like him. ;) Sakura's isn't bad. Sasuke, unknown. On the other hand, Kakashi's is painful. x.x;

UGH. I heartily dislike dubs, I don't know who does the casting for half of them but them must be on drugs or something; I saw the Escaflowne movie dubbed for the first time last week (thanks to On Demand) and was horrified by the majority of the voice actors, particularly for Dilandau, wtf? I know he's young but he's not supposed to sound like some snot nosed ten year old, but I digress. Unless by some stroke of luck they just happen to work out perfectly (which never happens) I have a hard time taking them seriously at all.

Thank god for Dattebayo because I don't think I could ever survive a Naruto dub, particularly with this cast. Some of them are ehhh... ok, but I think I'd just rather stick with the japanese voice actors.

I agree, I hardly ever watch dubs. Some are okay, but many are just downright painful because of poor casting and not enough talent to go around. (Not to say there aren't dubs I actually like, but it's true--many dubs suffer from bad dubbing because there just aren't that many great voice actors out there. :/)

I will watch it at least once, but it's mostly for seeing just how it will sound. (And to laugh at the cheesiness of it all!)

The casting for Naruto himself seems... stupid. XD; I really don't have an opinion of the voice actor either way, but I was under the impression that Naruto was supposed to sound fairly young. I don't know how it's going to work at all with him sounding even a little bit older than he's supposed to.

Bleh. Vic is a fine actor but I hate him as Ed, he's far too old and thus I think he would sound far too old for Naruto too. I wish they had gotten a kid, like the kid who does Al's dub, or a female VA who can do little boys well...heh...do little boys.

Yeah, I only mentioned him because he's supposed to be young, though I agree he wasn't the best choice for Ed. I agree that a female actor might've been a better choice...at least someone who sounded a LITTLE younger. :P

I love Mark Hildreth. I don't love Sasuke, but they chose a good voice for him. Johnny Yong better not mess up Naruto. I love Naruto's Japanese voice.

I like Naruto's voice, too...which is why having Mr. Power Ranger as Naruto kinda made me winch at first. I hope he at least tries to SOUND young...

I'm relatively sure that the casting directors had CN and a demand to be highly marketable in mind when making those choices. My main issue with most of the main cast is the problem of the voice actors providing voices that simply don't sound accurate for the characters in question.

Johnny Yong Bosch is a really nice guy, and I liked his work in Trigun and Wolf's Rain, but c'mon... Naruto is supposed to be 14.. The rest of the cast has the same problem, although the actor for Sasuke is actually gonna be pretty good, since I remember the Fatal Fury dubs being pretty enjoyable.

The only casting selection I don't have any problems with is the one I knew was gonna happen from the beginning: Steve Blum as Kakashi. I'm glad I was right, because the voice fits pretty well given the character, and the various roles I've heard Steve play.

I'm just hoping that theu don't make all the girls sound like they're forcing a youthful voice with lunguls of helium.. Hinata particularly.. she's my fave female character...

*stretches* Though, technically I'll stick with my original thought on the Naruto dub. I'll check it out before developing an overly negative opinion. If its crap, I'll stick to my fansubs. No big deal either way.

Just get ready to ride the HotTopic tide with every little trend-loving consumer zombie rushing to get their exclusive Naruto merchandise. Soon enough you'll see those fashion-oriented goth/punk/nerd/emo (insert editorial comments here) sporting konoha headbands alongside their overpriced, chain-laden pants and fishnet shirts... THAT is the part thats gonna bother me more than anything else.

OMG my brain is going to DIE trying to figure out HOW Eric Stuart was cast for Gaara. XDDDDDDDDD He's amazing, don't get me wrong, but thinking that James=Gaara is making me giggle. XDD I think Rachael Lillis might be good for Sakura (She might use her Misty voice XD), not so sure about Colleen O'Shaughnessey (I'm thinking of her Sora voice and I don't think that fights Ino.). *snorts* Now I might have to watch it for a good laugh. XD

Naruto's okay...I mean, the basic story is good, but it DOES drag on and on and on sometimes :P Which can get very annoying. I'm not all hardcore into it, but I do enjoy it. ^^
