There's still kinda crappy stuff happening right now. But, I'm trying not to focus on them too hard, for my own mental health's sake. Instead, I'm trying to focus on good stuff when I can.

Yesterday was the big yearly rummage sale the big church downtown does. This year I think was slightly better than last year (though last year we DID find that season 5 dvd set of The Simpsons, which was pretty awesome). Here's what I found:

-A very hefty stack of records (Led Zeppelin, Three-Dog Night, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, Wings, Elvis, Cher, Bread, and Eric Clapton)
-A Vintage Care Bears toy carrying case (which I'll prolly be putting up on my Etsy shop...it's cute, but I dunno if I feel the need to have it in my collection)
-Some Care Bears figurines (I might keep some and sell the others...not sure yet.)
-A Grams Bear Care Bear plush (and she still has her shawl! I was amazed)
-TWO vintage Strawberry Shortcake throw pillows (they're identical, though one's in kinda rough shape...I'll prolly keep the rough one and sell the nicer one, since I don't need two.)
-A vintage white Samsonite train case that still had it's tray AND mirror intact!
-An old glass carafe with a starburst print on it (not sure if I'll sell it or keep it yet)
-An old black purse that I want to deco to sell like the X/1999 one I did a while back.
-A neon-green plastic bangle bracelet
-A set of 3 vintage Tupperware glasses with a strawberry pattern
-Some funky tea-towels and oven mitts that have a really colorful mushroom pattern all over em (I think they might be from the 70s, not sure)
-a carry-on sized suitcase that's pink & white "camo" pattern
-and a super cute strawberry serving tray...that I bought and when the woman handed it back to me so I could put it in a bag, I promptly dropped it and broke it to smithereens. >__< Way to go, butterfingers. (Oh, well...at least I was only out a few cents. But still.)

We were gonna do their usual "come back at the end of the day and fill up a trashbag for a set price" sale, but they raised the price from $5 a trashbag to $10! WTF. So instead, we poked around for anything that'd be worth grabbing still, and if it didn't come up to over $10, we were just gonna buy them on their own. Which is what we ended up doing, lol. I was bummed there were no good VHS tapes, though Zack managed to find a really fun old tape on how to get high scores at Nintendo games! XD But other than that, not much. I would've picked up a few DVDs, but they rose the prices of those to $3 a disc, so I had to pass. At least their records where cheap as hell.

At least the stuff we did find was really cheap. And since a good chunk of that is stuff I intend to clean up and sell, I'm hoping to get most of my money back (in time, at least...lol). But now my arms are positively KILLING me today (mostly from carrying around those records. Who knew a pile of records could get so heavy? lol.)

Everyone having a good weekend so far?

Thoughts on Sailor Moon Crystal ep 1Collapse )

That's all I can think of off the top my head. My complaints were all really just small nit-picks, though--on the whole, I really love it! It's very close in heart and spirit to the manga, which is what was promised, so I'm happy with the premiere! Have you all checked it out yet? If not, the official (AND FREE) places to watch it are Hulu, Crunchyroll, Viz.com, and Nico Nico! What did you think if you did see it?

It's almost surreal to me to be like "omg time to get up and watch new Sailor Moon cartoons!!!"...like this is definitely not something I really ever thought I'd be able to do again until now. Part of me feels a little lame being SO excited about it and being an old lady now...but really, this series means so much to me, I can't NOT get excited over it. ;___; I don't care if it makes me lame, oh well, I will be lame and love my lame things and at least be happy about it, dammit! XD

I keep meaning to write a real post, but I've been so busy that as soon as I have free time, I basically just crash & burn and go to bed, it seems like. ^^; I got a short job at the local children's theater manning the soundboard for their production of "A Year With Frog & Toad", and while it's been fun so far it's been rather exhausting. Thankfully, Saturday is the performance, so after that I'll be free to work on other stuff again...so maybe after that I'll finally finish writing up a more detailed post on Anime Boston. @__@

My birthday was on the 2nd, and thanks to those who sent me b-day messages! ♥ So sweet of you. We didn't do anything earth-shattering for my bday, but that's ok considering all the excitement I already had at Anime Boston. We did go out to eat at a new Japanese place in town--which ended up being surprisingly good! I was very pleased. Most Asian places around here are a combo of American Chinese food/"Teriyaki"/American Sushi with gallons of mayo drizzled on top of em. And while this place did have a few of those things, their regular standard sushi was pretty great quality. (I had maguro and tako, 2 of my faves, and they tasted great!) I also had vegetable tempura, since I hadn't had that in a long time, and we had green tea mochi ice cream for dessert. ^^ Zack also surprised me with a copy of the new Ranma 1/2 blu-ray set for my birthday, which made me so happy! Delicious HD Ranma goodness~ x3

Working on sound for the play has been fun (though tiring, like I said before. xD;; ) Last night was our first dress rehearsal and amazingly we had no major goofs. We even got a text from one of the staff saying how great everything sounded, and that she could hear everyone speak clearly from the audience (which is apparently hard to do in that theater sometimes). So I was pretty proud, considering I've never really done this before. I wish I could record some clips of the show, but sadly they couldn't afford to buy video rights for the production, so people can only take photos. :/ But oh, well. Oh, I was also in charge of coming up with jazzy pre-show music to play while the audience takes their seats, and I managed to sneak in some tracks from both Cowboy Bebop and Baccano!, since they both have jazz-inspired soundtracks. lol, I know, dumb for me to get all excited about that...BUT I HAD TO DO IT.

Other than that, I'm still trying to work on this month's podcast (it'll prolly be a little late...argh. ^^;) and the backlog of other things I fell behind on. Hope everyone's having a good April so far!

Need a stapler, look for stapler.
Found my old mini Swingline, out of staples.
Finally find staples, they're not the mini kind, don't fit in the stapler.
Can't finish what I was working on, feel kinda anxious about it.

Less than 14 days until Anime Boston and I feel like I have soooooo much to do. x__x

I did SOMETHING to the muscles in my lower back. I don't know if I slept in a weird position or what, but it's driving me up the wall. I've done everything I can think of--taken the hottest shower I can stand, stretching, simple yoga (downward dog, lol), taken ibuprofen, had Zack give me a massage, and even rubbed icy-hot on it (which I HATE, my skin's really sensitive, so if I accidentally put too much on it, I feel like I have a chemical burn) and it's...slightly better, but it's still hard to sit in one spot for too long, and if I move too quickly, I get a sharp pain. ;__; I'm gonna try putting a heating pad on it tonight and see if that does anything. It's only been about a day and a half, so hopefully it doesn't stick around too much longer. I have to go out and run errands tomorrow and it's not gonna be very fun if I'm walking around with a tender back.

New episode of my podcast is up! I'm too lazy to copy and paste it all right now, so here's a link to it instead. XD This one's all about favorite anime couples from older anime. I was also happy to see that I now have TWO reviews on itunes, and they're both really nice ones, awwww. ;__; So cool. I'm really amazed I haven't gotten a crappy one  yet, so thanks internet, for not being automatically terrible for a change!

I hope everyone's keeping warm, I know lots of places got hit with nasty weather today. We got lots of rain and froze instantly, but thankfully it looks like it'll melt by tomorrow.

KOR Theater, ep. 48 - "The Betrayal"

Anyone remember that episode of Seinfeld that was told backwards? Well, that's how this goes. Except it's anime.
Enjoy!

Podcast stuff under hereCollapse )

Sorry for being so quiet lately! I feel like I've been consistently busy, but mostly with boring stuff that even I don't really want to yammer about, I guess.

I am kind of annoyed that it looks like Zack and I will have to re-cast 2 of the MAIN characters of our Maris fandub, considering we haven't heard from those 2 in practically 2 months. (At first I figured they were busy with the holidays, but it's been plenty of time since any real festive celebrations, so...) I'm sure we can find replacements, but I really liked the girl we got to to play Maris, so I'm kinda disappointed. (We even gave them a whole month to respond, and unless they magically respond in the next 2 days...yeah.)

Today I watched Return to Oz for the first time in....god knows how long (I want to say in at least 15 years?! GEEZ.) I found a "used" copy on Amazon for really cheap (it ended up being brand new when it came in the mail, though! YES.) and used my xmas Amazon gift card to get it. If you've never seen it, it's an 80s movie meant to be a "sort-of" sequel to the original movie (I say sort-of because it was made by Disney and not MGM), which was more based on the original novels than the first movie (though I love the original movie, don't get me wrong!). It's actually kind of dark, and I remember a lot of my friends (when I was a kid) saying  they didn't like it because it scared them or weirded them out...but I never thought that at all! Rewatching it now, I can kinda see what they meant, since it's been a while. But I still enjoyed it! Some of the special effects really...do not age well (not to mention some of them do NOT look good on a high-def, larger screen, haha.) And boy, does that DVD have one of the ugliest DVD covers ever. x__X For real, what the hell did they do to Dorothy's FACE?! She looks like that ruined Jesus painting! XD;; I might try to print out a new one when we get some more printer ink, because...it's pretty painful, I have to admit. (It's even worse in person, lol.)

How's everyone's week been so far? Good I hope!
